You know what makes me really excited this time of year?
The pool.
Now don’t roll your eyes. I’m NOT going to talk about having a bikini ready body.
I think I’ve pretty much told you all I know on that topic ;)
What I’m going to talk to you about is how my birthday celebration in February reminded me of the sweet summer days I spent with my family at the pool.
I just had a big birthday.
And my children made me a book where all my friend sent in letters and memories of me.
And one of the most surprising themes from my own children (and my children’s friends!) were their summertime wake-up times.
I totally forgot about this!
All of their notes all included it.
And it went something like this:
"One of my most fave memories of mom is waking us up on a summer day and asking if we wanted to go to the pool.
We were so excited, but she always made us eat breakfast first!
And she always made us a fruit smoothie for breakfast because it was quick, easy, and she let us drink it on the way to the pool."
Now here’s what my littles didn’t know. I had already finished working by 9 AM when I woke them up.
So here’s how MY summer days went:
4:15 AM : Wake up and pray for all of you (yes, I really do pray for you!)
4:21 AM : Go pee. (Sorry, I’d pray for you longer than 6 minutes, buttttt I gotta go!)
4:23 AM : Brush teeth, put on deodorant (you’re welcome), get dressed.
4:30 AM : Review and strategize torture strategies (Um.. I mean plan the workout).
4:45 AM : Do a drive by of food journals.
5 AM : Make sure torture devices (I mean “equipment pieces”) are in the trunk and drive to torture chamber (I mean… gym).
5:30 - 6:30 AM: Hang out with my very favoritest people in the whole wide world (that's you!).
6: 50 AM : Arrive back home.
7-9 AM : Answer emails from my most favoritest people in the whole wide world (that's you!) and finish checking food journals.
9 AM : Prepare my most awesome fruit smoothie.
9:05 AM : Wake up my kids and begin getting ready for our poolside afternoon, because I am superwoman.
Of course, all my kiddos remember is how much I was mother of the year for getting them up and going straight to the pool.
What I remember was the struggle in getting them to eat their fruits and veggies, when all they wanted was candy by the poolside!
So, we compromised. They got a fruit smoothie from me in the morning to make sure they got their breakfast and their fruits in and we got to leave right away, and then later they could have treats by the pool.
So in all the nostalgia of today, I wanted to share with you this fresh fruit smoothie recipe.
And it’s all natural!
Enjoy!
You’re going to need the following ingredients:
1/2 cup all natural yogurt
1 cup frozen berries
(Our combo uses strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries)
1/2 cup all natural yogurt
(or cow milk, cashew milk, etc. Whatever doesn’t hurt your belly)
1 cup of ice
Option: add a banana
Pour all ingredients into a blender and blend. Then pour and enjoy!
Click play above, and I’ll show you how it’s done (and make you smile a couple times, too!) Hoo-Aah!
