This week, we thought we would give you some food hacks to save time in your week and help you avoid weight gain.
1. Meal Prep.
WAIT! Don’t skip over this step. I know you may be thinking, “How does this save me time when it takes soooo long to do?!” Well hang with me for a second. Meal prep is a simpler than you may think.
Your time saving hack in meal prep is as simple as two steps: going to the grocery store to get all your fruits and veggies for the week, and then prepping them by washing, cutting, and then putting them in baggies for a grab and go snack through out the week.
So many times when we want a snack, we choose a quick but not so healthy option. This strategy allows you to have the best of both worlds by being simple and quick, AND fueling you body in the best way.
2. The Magical Half.
Fruits and veggies. I know, I know. We are all about these magical foods this week. This one is about your plate at every meal. Take a look. Is half of your plate fruits and veggies? Bonus if you eat these foods first.
The reason why this is critical is because it allows your body to get all the necessary vitamins and minerals it needs. AND, the fruit serving satisfies that sweet tooth craving that can sabotage your goals.
3. Sassy Water.
Did you know most sodas have over 100 calories and are jam packed with sugar? Most people DO in fact know this, but need something to “perk” them up in the middle of the day. Our substitute: sassy water.
How do you make your water sassy? Step 1: get a refillable water bottle and fill it up. Step 2: put some of the fruit you cut up in your meal prep, and put it in your water bottle. And voila! Your water has become sassy. This water will hydrate you, and give you a fresh taste to perk up your afternoon. You’re welcome ;) Our fave fruits to add to make your water sassy are: cucumbers, lemon, lime, berries, watermelon etc.
