The Number One Fitness Trend for 2017
November 16, 20163 Myths on How to Have a Flat Belly (And How to Actually Get One!)
December 1, 2016
Hey Campers!
Happy Thanksgiving! I’m SO excited that this holiday season has begun.
And I love taking the time to stop, being present, and really giving thanks for all my blessings.
I do know that this is a time in which a lot of us struggle with not breaking the calorie bank.
So I’m going to share with you my three strategies that I use to enjoy my thanksgiving dinner.
1. Measure your food.
I measured out my food. I know what you are thinking, "Lors. Do you seriously measure out a half cup of mashed potatoes?" And the answer is yes. Yes I do. Because left to my own devices, I would eat the whole bowl. Which would not prove very giving to the rest of my family, or to my butt. The benefit is I host Thanksgiving dinner, so it’s easier for me to measure. Now if you are eating at someone else’s house, and you feel a bit foolish asking for a 1/2 cup measuring cup, get an idea at home of what a 1/2 cup of mashed potoates looks like. Memorize that visual, and stick to your plan. (Don’t worry about being judged by others. You will totally be judged. But just know, that I’m measuring mine, too :))
2. Do not go back for seconds.
I have a rule to try all the yummies on the table. And my second rule, is to not go back for seconds. If I love the food, I get the recipe and promise myself I’ll make it on my own. Rarely do I make it on my own, but this promise keeps me from going back for seconds. Don’t forget, it’s all a mind game.
3. Journal before your dinner.
I want to warn you, this is very depressing. When you actually see how many calories are in a Thanksgiving dinner, it’s quite shocking. And if you don’t believe me, go check out my food journal. I’ve already done mine. And to top it off, check out how many calories are in a piece of pecan pie (my most favorite). When you see this, one of two things will happen. You’ll have just a small sliver and refer back to number two, or you will become depressed and eat the whole pie. Either way, here’s the good news: Thanksgiving only happens once a year.
So, those are my three thanksgiving hacks to enjoy my day and not break my calorie bank. I do want to wish you and your family a most amazing Thanksgiving holiday. I hope you too can enjoy the moments, give thanks, and accept your many blessings.
Love you guys,
-Lors
